A 3 day trip to Scotland - including Edinburgh, a tour of the Highlands and a visit to Loch Ness!

Travel to Edinburgh by train, where you'll have a walking tour that includes the Royal Mile and other Scottish attractions. Then it’s on to what Scotland is all about - mountains and lakes! The two day tour of the Highlands includes visits to Loch Ness, Doune Castle, and the mountain landscapes of Glencoe and Rannach Moor.

The cost is £289, which includes return train travel from Leicester, 2 nights’ hostel accommodation including breakfast, entry to Doune Castle and the Clansman Centre, a full-time manager/guide, and the two-day Highland Tour.

Important: This trip leaves in the morning on Friday 10th November. To join this tour you will need to ensure you have no lessons, assessments or other study commitments on Friday 10th November. Alternatively, you may need to obtain special permission from your tutor. Because the trip will take place in a few weeks’ time and involves accommodation and train bookings, it may not be possible to refund cancellations. It is your responsibility to ensure before booking that you will be able to join the trip for the full 3 days and have no other commitments during that time.

Detailed Description

Day 1 - Edinburgh.  Depart 07.00 (approx). Travel to Edinburgh, where you'll have a walking tour that includes the Royal Mile and other Scottish attractions. Free time gives you the chance to visit the Scotch Whisky Heritage Centre, Edinburgh Castle or the Palace of Holyrood House.

Days 2 and 3 - Scottish Highlands Tour. Then it’s on to what Scotland is all about - mountains and lakes! The two day tour of the Highlands begins at the Wallace Monument, commemorating ‘Braveheart’s’ stand against Edward I. Then to the mountains where we admire the craggy mountain landscape of Glencoe and Rannach Moor. The day ends for a photo-stop at Urquhart Castle, a romantic ruin perched on the shores of Loch Ness, where you can start your own search party for Nessie, the infamous Loch Ness monster. Overnight is at Fort Augustus.

On the third day of your tour, we go to the site of the last highland charge, Culloden Moor. Then on to Pitlochry set under the dramatic skyline of Ben Vrackie. The final Highland visit will be the Hermitage - Birnam Wood in Shakespeare's "Macbeth", for a wooded walk with waterfalls and salmon leap. Finally we return to Leicester - 22.00 (approx).

Please note that the trip will require a minimum number of student bookings.

Because the trip is in less than 1 month's time and involves train and accommodation bookings, we regret that it may not be possible to refund any cancellations. It is your responsibility to ensure before booking that you will be able to join the trip for the full 3 days and have no other commitments during that weekend.
